James Cartmell, Sales Manager at Accent on Travel

I believe people are the sum of their experience and personal relationships. Traveling, learning, and giving back are three of the main ways I have been able to lead a happy and fulfilling life. I was always taught to make your community a better place through supporting others and leaving things better than how you found them, and I love the ways you can accomplish these things through travel.

I entered the travel profession as a young sales representative and quickly fell in love with the deep impact it had on people, especially for those who spent years dreaming about traveling to a specific place. Done in the proper way, travel is one of those things that makes people feel great, is healthy, and grows them through exciting, new experiences. Working in travel has allowed me to get to know wonderful people and build deep relationships that I am incredibly grateful for. After years of experience, including opening an office in Sydney and getting an EMBA from Villanova University, I have come to love coaching travel advisors to serve their customers and reach their sales goals. Especially on the other side of the covid pandemic, the future of travel is bright and full of opportunity. I cannot wait to share that future with you.

What do you love about travel?

I love the sense of personal growth, accomplishment, and wellbeing I get when having positive travel expereinces. Travel has such a unique, positive impact on people’s lives for so many different reasons. I love the feeling of starting an unknown experience and uncovering a new destination. I also appreciate learning from other cultures and finding the ways people are connected even when they are so far apart. I believe so many of the benefits of travel are amplified when people do it with people close to them, and so group travel is something that I believe makes communities stronger and the world a better place.

What has been your favorite trip?

I took my family on a 10 day road trip around the south island of New Zealand. It was filled with amazing memories of my wife and I with our young children having such a unique adventure. We had the opportunity to see beautiful places around every corner and stay in great cities like Queenstown. Exploring Milford Sound, Lake Wakatipu, and all the beautiful coastlines, villages, mountains, and glaciers that make New Zealand breathtaking is an experience I will never forget.
