Critically endangered and native to the slopes of the volcano on Isabela, the pink land iguana was only given its own species status in 2009.

Red-Footed Booby

Flamingos

Minutes after sunrise, this Galapagos flamingo peacefully strolls through a gentle lagoon in search of breakfast.

Though no longer able to fly, the flightless cormorant is an endemic species that has adapted to swimming better than many other birds.

Common, spinner, and bottlenose dolphins all visit the waters around the Galapagos, with the latter more frequently spotted.
