Important update for US travelers heading to Europe in 2024 and beyond
US travelers heading to Europe in 2024 and beyond will be going through a step that foreign travelers have been doing since 2011 when entering the US.
This was instituted in 2018 and postponed several times previously. The form is called Emergency Travel Information & Authorization System (ETIAS) which is a process for all ‘VISA-free’ visitors to document themselves when entering the EU.
There will be a nominal amount collected (currently Italy arrivals cost 7 EU per person based on the information available). This will be an online form that travelers must complete. Airlines and cruise lines entering the EU will be required to see proof of this being completed. For more details, visit the official ETIAS website.
